Hello.

How can I connect to Panasonic KX-TD via TAPI?
I've installed a tsp driver (from tspinst177.exe), but I can't see any
Panasonic TAPI device in my application.

My program can see the same devices as this one:
http://www.julmar.com/samples/phone.zip.

My application is developed in Delphi.NET and I use "Microsoft TAPI 3.0 Type
Library" (from COM Imports).

Have you any ideas how can I get panasonic tapi device on the list of TAPI
devices?

Thanks in advance

Pogar,

I don't know the Panasonic TSP, but it seems that either

- the TSP is not installed correctly
(check Control Panel >> Phone and Modem Options
Post by Pogar
Advanced)
- the TSP is not configured to expose any lines
(select the TSP and click configure)

The SP is installed... In place that you are gave there is the "Panasonic
KX-TD TSP".

How?
After I click configure in Phone and Modem Options/Advanced there is the
dialog, where I can only select COM port and baud raute.

It's hard to believe me that someting will change (the panasonic tapi device
will be show in the list od TAPi devices) when I connect my computer do PBX
by cable.

Piotr,
are you saying that your PC with the TSP is _not_ connected to the PBX?

Piotr,

Currently - yes.
I want to get panasonic TAPI visible in my application (or mentioned
phone.exe) and after that go with my laptop to server room and test my
application when my computer is connected...

My application was tested on mobile-phone-modem tapi driver and now it's
ready do go on PBX.
But first I want to select the proper device in my code. To do that I need
to get the name of TAPI device, which currently is absent on available
devices list.

I try to attach a print-screen from TSP in Phones and Modems
Piotr, I'm not familiar with Panasonic TSP
but I guess the TSP requires a connection to the PBX to expose the PBX'
extensions.
How else should the TSP know about the available extensions?
I guess the empty box "Ext TAPI PBX" in your screenshot is related to this...

Hmm...
TAPI devices, which are available, there are also disconnected (H323,
infrared, RAP PPoE, my modem) but there also visible on available TAPI
devices list...

Tomorrow I try to connect my laptop to PBX, but I don't belevie that will
make TAPI Panasonic device visible on TAPI devices list....:-)

Until tomorrow maybe someone familiar with Panasonic write some answer.....

I'll have a go!

If you're using tspinst177.exe from Panasonic for the KX-TD, you won't see
any line devices unless the telephone system is connected to the computer.
There's a "handshake" between the TSP and the switch, quite possibly
performed at TSPI_lineNegotiateTSPIVersion time rather than
TSPI_providerEnumDevices time.

In fact, it gets worse. Suppose you were starting with a "clean" PC and
your KX-TD. To stand a realistic chance of developing a TAPI client app,
you would need to follow a bizarre sequence like this:
- Connect the V24 cable to the PC and to the CTI port of the KX-TD.
- Make sure both the PC and the KX-TD are fully booted.
- Run the installation program (e.g. tspinst177.exe) on the PC.
- Follow the instructions in the installation program.
- When the installation program has finished, reboot the KX-TD
(by turning it off, waiting for ten seconds, then
turning it back on and giving it time to reboot fully.)
- When the KX-TD has finished rebooting, reboot the PC.
- When the PC has finished rebooting, reboot the KX-TD a second time.

No, I am not joking, although someone at Panasonic obviously was.

Good luck!

My TAPI program works with the Panasonic KX-TD range. I didn't have to go
through this great rebooting loop. I know you need certain levels of
firmware for TAPI to work however. Possibly a firmware upgrade might have
made life easier.

That is my experience too... However, I've been told by people who tried to
deploy .NET apps using TAPI 3.x directly that it breaks down under usage.

Given MS' clear direction it doesn't seem worth the inevitable problems.

I've developed a small client-server application, so only server will be
using TAPI interface via COM.
I believe when I'll establish a connection PBX my application should work
fine...

1. Panasonic KX-TD support only TAPI 2.0
2. To see panasonic lines you need to be connected to PBX
3. You can get the latest TSP versions at out site http://randesoft.com
4. KX-TA308 doesn't support CTI so there's no TSP driver for it
